Washington baseball team wins doubleheader at Fort Madison
The Washington Demons grabbed an early lead on its way to an 8-3 victory over Fort Madison Friday, May 26, in the first of two-game action.
Washington captured the lead in the first inning. With zero outs in the first inning Zach Londberg drove in one run when he singled.
The boys scored four runs in the second inning on a grand slam by Londberg, who also earned the win for the Demons.

The Washington Demons grabbed an early lead on its way to an 8-3 victory over Fort Madison Friday, May 26, in the first of two-game action.
Washington captured the lead in the first inning. With zero outs in the first inning Zach Londberg drove in one run when he singled.
The boys scored four runs in the second inning on a grand slam by Londberg, who also earned the win for the Demons.
He went four innings, surrendering three runs, five hits, and striking out one. Kole Hinrichsen recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Washington.
Londberg went 2-for-4 at the plate as he led the team with five runs batted in. The Demons didn't commit a single error in the field.
Aaron Vittetoe had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
Thanks to a strong start, Washington defeated Fort Madison 16-1 in the second game.
The Demons took an early lead in the first inning, going up 3-0.
Washington scored eight runs in the sixth inning.
That big inning was driven by a double , an error, a double by Landon Hinckley, and an error.
Cale Hobschiedt earned the win for Washington. He went four innings, allowing zero runs, one hit, and striking out nine.
Two relievers helped Washington close out the victory. Jacob Hall threw one inning.
Washington had 13 hits in the second game. Collin Zear, Vittetoe, Luke Turner, Ryan Loy and Londberg each collected multiple hits for Washington.
Vittetoe led the team with four runs batted in. He went 2-for-4 on the day.
The Demons were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Bryce Craff had the most chances in the field with 13.
The boys take to the field at home tonight, starting at 5:30 p.m. for double-header action against Louisa-Muscatine.
