Washington boy brings home trophy
Joshua Moore of Washington brought home the first-place trophy in the 9-year-old division at the state Punt, Pass and Run competition, held at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls on Sunday.
Moore was one of 200 kids who qualified for the state competition, which was sponsored by the Iowa Jaycees.
Moore qualified for the event after placing second at the Oct. 19 regional competition, which was held in Washington

Joshua Moore of Washington brought home the first-place trophy in the 9-year-old division at the state Punt, Pass and Run competition, held at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls on Sunday.
Moore was one of 200 kids who qualified for the state competition, which was sponsored by the Iowa Jaycees.
Moore qualified for the event after placing second at the Oct. 19 regional competition, which was held in Washington and organized by Bob and Diane Blankenship.
A number of other local athletes placed in the top six at the regional meet in Washington, with the results as follows:
8-year-olds: 1. Austin Croton, 2. Caleb Peck, 3. Parker Turner, 4. Colin Steele, 5. Vance Glaser, 6. Adam Bartenhagen.
9-year-olds: 1. Colton Covington, 2. Joshua Moore, 3. Davis Lowenberg, 4. Cale Austin, 5. Jordan Grier, 6. Dylan Stepleton.
10-year-olds: 1. David Kettleson, 2. Isaac Gardner, 3. Koby Wildenborg, 4. Jacob Dunbar, 5. Kyle Holmes, 6. Kyle Baker.
11-year-olds: 1. Ben TeBockhorst, 2. Braden Gaal, 3. Brad Siever, 4. Tyler Felegi, 5. Wesley Jones, 6. Danielle Stepleton.
12-year-olds: 1. Jake Austin, 2. Jeffrey Rolott, 3. Travis Sturms, 4. James Liebe, 5. Brady Kurran, 6. Dan Cunningham.
13-year-olds: 1. Eric Holmes, 2. Alex Bartenhage, 3. Joel Kettleson, 4. Guamer, 5. Tony Silva.
