Washington boys and girls basketball splits with Ottumwa
Demon boys edge Bulldogs, girls halftime lead evaporates

OTTUMWA -- Washington boys and girls basketball were on the road Monday night as the Demons traveled to Ottumwa to take on the Bulldogs.
It was a split night for the Demons as the boys walked away with a narrow 56-54 victory, while the girls suffered a 46-34 defeat.
On the boys’ side, the margins for victory were narrow. Neither team outscored the other by more than two points in any quarter on the night.
Ottumwa led Washington 13-12 after one quarter, before the Demons went on to take the second 12-11 to tie it up at the half 24-24.
Out of the break, neither team could pull away as both scored a whopping 21 points in the period to make it 45-45 after three quarters.
In the final period though, it was the Demons who got it done. Washington outscored Ottumwa 11-9 to take the win.
Nic Stone led Washington with 16 points. Logan McDole followed with 15 and Rajan Roth added eight.
Washington improves to 7-9 with the win.
On the girls’ side, it was another close game through three quarters. The Demons and Bulldogs were tied 15-15 after one quarter.
The Demons just narrowly edged the Bulldogs in the second to take a 21-20 lead into the half, but it was Ottumwa who finished strong.
In the second half, Ottumwa outscored Washington 26-13 to take the win.
With the loss, the Demons drop to 5-12.
