The Washington boys? basketball team made it two in a row on Tuesday night, using strong offensive performances to pick up a win.
The Demons used a 24-point quarter right before halftime to pull away, and held Mid-Prairie at bay for the rest of the contest, cruising to pick up the 66-53 victory.
Washington improved to 6-10 on the season, with three games remaining before postseason play.
Washington was led by a trio of double-digit scorers, headlined by senior Derek Anding?s team-high 18 points. Dalton Myers had 13 and Jack Redlinger scored 12 points on the night, while John Dillon had six points and a team-high eight rebounds and four steals in the victory.
Washington and Mid-Prairie battled early, before the Demons used their strong second quarter to extend their lead to as many as 12.
After leading by eight at halftime, Mid-Prairie cut the deficit to four, but couldn?t bring it any closer, as Washington pulled away to lead by as many as 18 points, en route to the win.
Washington will wrap up conference play on Friday night when they host Mt. Pleasant, before taking on Williamsburg and Grinnell next week.
The Demons also learned their first-round postseason opponent earlier this week, as they were paired with Clear Creek-Amana in a Class 3A matchup on Feb. 22.
