Washington boys, girls golf win home meet
Demons girls and boys top Mid-Prairie and Columbus in first meet of the season

WASHINGTON — For the Washington boys and girls golf teams, Tuesday night was a great night of opening season golf.
Both Demons squads played host to the Golden Hawks of Mid-Prairie and the Wildcats of Columbus.
Washington took the win on both sides, as the Demon boys posted a winning score of 158, while the Demon girls carded 183.
Mid-Prairie finished with a score of 176 and Columbus 233 on the boys’ side, while the Golden Hawks scored 205 and Columbus did not post a team overall as just two athletes competed.
For the Washington boys, freshman Drew Conrad took the individual title with a meet low of 36. Conrad tied teammate Roman Roth at 36, but Conrad took the top score after a cardback.
The other scores for the Demons were Luke Beenblossom with 41, Isaac Vetter and Rajan Roth with 45s and Teague Mayer with 47.
For the Washington girls, Makenna Conrad finished with a meet low of 41.
Kaylin Long and Haley Mitchell followed Conrad both scoring 46. Maci Williams shot a 50, Mallary Johnson carded a 52 and Alecia Goff shot a 56.
The runner-up Golden Hawk boys were led by Drew Schlabaugh with a team-low of 39.
Warren Scarff ended with 44, Clayton Davidson 46, Bryce Henry 47, Alex Bean 49 and Ben Mattes 54.
Gabi Robertson shot a 45 to lead the Golden Hawks girls. The score was good enough for second.
She was followed by Addison English at 51, Alexa Huber 54, Elliot Debler with 55, Madi Davidson with 56 and Kylie Reiner with 58.
Columbus was paced by Grant Watson on the boys’ side. Watson shot a team-best 47. Ryan Coil ended with 55, Mason Heck shot a 62, Ethan Palmer had 69 and Keegan Blakely finished with a 72.
The Wildcat girls of Hallie Wellington and Kinlee Brown finished their day with 64 and 75.
