The Washington boys golf team came up just short of playing in district action as they finished in third place sectionals Thursday, May 11, in Burlington.
?We finished as a team with a 322 so we will not be advancing to districts,? said coach Mark Berhow. ?Congratulations to Dalton Myers who finished in second place with a 75 and will be advancing to districts next Friday at Oskaloosa.
?He played consistently and I am very proud of him and his performance,? Berhow said.
Mt. Pleasant and Mount Vernon shot a 317, Mt. Pleasant got first place after comparing the fifth player's score.
?We struggled to let go of mistakes and move on to the next shot,? Berhow said.
?However, I am proud of our season and our biggest accomplishment of winning our conference tournament.
?It has been five years since we last won. This group of guys overcame many challenges to be successful.
?I wish our three seniors the best in all they do. Mason Rich, Tanner Coleman, and Noah Enfield represent 11 years of varsity level experience during their careers.
?We will need to work hard to fill that gap. I am very hopeful in our returning players that we will be a very tough team next year.?
