Washington boys second at Wapello meet
Demons eclipse 100 points, finish behind Mediapolis

WAPELLO — The Washington boys track and field team took second at Wapello’s home track meet on Tuesday night. Washington scored 111.50 points for second place overall, and Winfield-Mount Union scored 70 points, for 5th.
Washington’s Alec Ulin racked up one win on the day, taking the 400-meter dash. Ulin crossed the tape in 51.58 seconds.e
Mason Morgan had an individual win as well, taking the 110-meter hurdles in 16.29 seconds.
The Demons’ only other win on the day came in the shuttle hurdle relay. The quartet of Tayven Stuart, Ulin, Morgan and Austin Rebling won in 1:04.18.
Washington scooped up a couple of runner-up finishes. Micah Rees was second in the 3200, finishing in 10:04. Brayden Hartman took second in both throwing events, hurling the shot put 58 feet, 4.5 inches, and the discus 158 feet, 4 inches.
Also finishing second for the Demons was the 4X200 squad. The quartet of Logan McDole, Cameron Vongpanya, Rebling and Jack Kleese crossed the tape in 1:37.85.
Winfield-Mount Union had three wins on the day. Gabriel Hemsworth won the 400-meter hurdles in 56.44 seconds. Cam Buffington took the long jump, with a leap of 21 feet, 3 inches, and the sprint medley team took first, in 3:51.20.
WMU had another Top-2 finish in the relays. The 4X100 team finished second, in 46.10 seconds.
