Washington boys take home golf meet
Washington, Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant go one, two and three in Washington

WASHINGTON — The Southeast Conference battle in boys golf has not disappointed this season.
Monday night’s meet in Washington was more of the same as area team’s Washington, Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant finished one, two and three in the competition.
Washington took home the first place medal after posting a score of 172. Fairfield finished 10 strokes back with a 182 for second and Mt. Pleasant ended the meet with 195 for third.
Keokuk and Fort Madison rounded out the competition.
For the Demons, Roman Roth and Isaac Vetter went one and two in the meet. Roth took the top spot with a 39, the only sub 40 score on the day. Vetter finished tied for second golfing a 42. Luke Beenblossom golfed a 45 for the Demons. Teague Mayer ended with a 46. Grant Sobaski had a 49 and John Prochaska a 52.
Fairfield’s highest placer on the day was Sam Weaton. Weaton tallied a 43. Evan Haines followed with a 45. Max Weaton and Dev Eisner both golfed a 47. Nate Smithburg shot a 48 and Trey Hunter a 49.
The Panthers were led by Nick Matheney. Matheney tied for second with a 42. Reece Kempker totaled a 48 in the meet. Reece Coffman finished with a 52. Nate Dismang chipped in a 53. Ben Meador had a 61 and Izaac Zihlman 63.
Washington and Mt. Pleasant will return to the course on Saturday, April 23 with the Washington Invitational.
Fairfield will wait until Monday, April 25 for its next competition. The Trojans will host Mt. Pleasant and Washington in Fairfield.
