The Washington Demons boys basketball team won on the road at Davis County Tuesday, Jan. 17, by a final score of 63-56. The two teams started out close after the first two minutes of the game before Davis County went on an eight-point scoring run before Washington could respond to tie it up.
Davis County would pull away again adding six before Washington would get a shot from the free-throw line to put in one before Davis County added another four to be head 16-9 after the first quarter.
Davis County would extend their lead in the second quarter and having as much as a 17-point lead before Washington would put more points on the board to end the first half behind 26-34.
Washington would rally after the break to slowly eat away their deficit to lag by three after the end of the first quarter, 36-39. The Demons would start off the fourth quarter with two buckets within the first minute to take the lead and would struggle to keep it the rest of the game as both teams would battle back and forth with Washington coming on strong at the end to get the win.
Coach Collin Stark said of the game, ?Washington?s full court press really gave Davis County after being down by 17. We cut their lead down to eight and then finished the game off to win by seven. Mason Rich hit a key 3-pointer with about a minute to go to stretch the lead from two to five before Davis County had to start fouling. It was a very hard-fought win on the road. I?m very proud of our guys.?
Rich was the top scorer for Washington, putting in 21 points, including 15 points from the 3-point range. Jacob Van Osdol scored nine points, all of which were scored from outside the arc. John Dillon also scored nine points in the game. Dalton Myers scored seven, Jaivonn Willis contributed six points.
