BURLINGTON — The final game between the Washington and Burlington softball teams was meant to be played on Friday night, but the weather had other plans.
The end of the Southeast Conference’s biggest series of the year was postponed, perhaps indefinitely. The game will only be made up if it is needed to for the conference race.
Burlington won the first two showdowns between the teams earlier in the week. The Grayhounds and Demons both entered the series with one loss, so Burlington’s sweep all but clinched the SEC title.
Mt. Pleasant is set to travel to Burlington on Friday night, and if the Panthers can pull off the road upset, the Demons will get their shot at the Grayhounds soon. If not, the game will not end up being played, as Burlington will clinch the SEC title all alone.
