WASHINGTON — Williamsburg brought just too much fire power on Monday night against Washington as the Raiders defeated the Demons 77-50.
The Raiders jump out to a 5-0 lead in the opening quarter and would never trail in the game.
Ethan Patterson answered with a three to make it a 5-3 ballgame, but Williamsburg hit a three of its own and outscored Washington 11-5 up until the end of the first quarter for a 19-8 lead.
In the second period, Williamsburg extended its lead at the start.
With an 8-2 run up until the 4:29 mark, the Raiders led 27-10.
Over the next three minutes, Washington scored just four points to Williamsburgs 10.
Patterson and Logan McDole scored a pair to end the quarter on a 4-2 run, but heading into halftime the Demons were down 39-18.
The two squads were neck and neck in the second half, but Williamsburg was able to keep its distance.
Washington battled to the end, but was never able to make up the difference.
The Demons and Raiders both finished with 17 points in the third period. Heading into the final quarter of the night, Williamsburg still held a 21 point lead at 56-35.
The fourth quarter went back to the Raiders.
Washington was outscored by just six in the fourth, 21-15.
Washington (10-8) will continue its regular season on Friday while playing host to Keokuk (7-11) for senior night.
Washington got the better of the Chiefs once this season, 69-45.
