Washington, Columbus boys win in Fort Madison

FORT MADISON — Area teams met up at Redeo Park in Fort Madison on Thursday night for the annual Timm Lamb Relays. Washington showed out with two individual wins and a team win on the night.

The Demons flexed their muscles in the boys’ race. Washington cruised to a team victory, scoring 25 points to win the class A competition by 23 points.

Washington had five runners in the Top-10, including the Top-2. Tyler Alderton won the race in 16 minutes, 53.6 seconds, and Andrew Rees finished just behind him, in 16:57.6.

Sawyer Tscantz finished fifth, just ahead of Mt. Pleasant’s Locken Henderson, who took sixth. Washington’s Ethan Hotchkiss and Parker Tschantz took eighth and ninth respectively.

Mt. Pleasant had one more runner in the Top-15, as Silsa Hulett finished 15th. Fairfield’s Aaden Regur was 20th.

In the class A girls’ race, Iris Dahl crossed in first place, finishing in 19:45.2. Lauren Horak took fourth overall, as the Demons took second as a team.

Washington had seven runners in the Top-17, including a 10th place finish by Alyvia Anderson, and an 11th-place finish by Quincy Griffis. Mt. Pleasant’s Quintree Lee finished 12th.

Columbus and Van Buren County took first and second in the Class B boys’ race. Columbus scored 60, and VBC took 61st.

Lincoln Bainbridge took third to lead VBC. He crossed the tape in 16:47.5. Columbus’ Ty Muniz took fourth. VBC’s Landry Loeffler was sixth. Kohlby Newsom of Winfield-Mount Union was eighth, and Ryan Villa finished ninth.

In the girls’ race, VBC’s Kayley Snowgren finished fifth. VBC’s Rylee Phillips was 10th, and Isabel Rendon of Columbus crossed in 13th.
