WASHINGTON — It’s going to be another exciting cross-country season for the Demons of Washington.
A year ago, the Demons girls’ squad punched a ticket to state and they bring back all of those competitors from a year ago.
That includes Iris Dahl, Quincy Griffis, Alyvia Anderson, Lauren Horak, Angeline Anderson, Isabella Lujan and Kendall Hinrichsen.
The girls dominated throughout the season and skyrocketed to state with a third-place finish at the state qualifier.
Dahl was the highest finisher from a year ago, finishing seventh at state. Griffis followed in 50th, Anderson 68th, Horak 74th, Anderson 88th, Lujan 101st and Hinrichsen 105th.
On the boys’ side of things, both of last year’s state qualifiers return.
As a team, the Demons narrowly missed out on the state tournament finishing fifth after needing to get inside the top three.
However, both now senior Micah Rees and junior Tyler Alderton made it in. They will be back for another tournament run this year.
Rees finished 13th in last year’s state tournament, while Alderton came in 85th.
Washington’s Lane Schrock just missed a trip to state as well. Schrock took 24th at the qualifier. He will be back too.
Washington is set up for another stellar cross-country season in 2023 on both sides.
