BURLINGTON — Washington baseball took on Burlington on Monday night in what marked the beginning of the final Southeast Conference series for the Demons.
The Demons didn’t have quite enough for the SEC leading Grayhounds as they were topped 14-2 and 9-2 in the pair of games.
Game one started out great for Washington.
The Demons put one run on the board in their first trip to the plate.
To Washington’s dismay, Burlington answered back with a three-run home run in the bottom half of the frame and they would never lead again.
The home run was the first of three for the Grayhounds in the game.
After a scoreless second inning, Burlington went on to score three in the third, four in the fourth and five more between the fifth and sixth.
The Demons scored their final run in the fifth.
In game two, the two squads went scoreless through two innings of action, but the Grayhounds took control with eight runs in the bottom of the third.
Washington scored two between the sixth and seventh, but that’s all it could muster.
With the losses, the Demons move to 4-19 on the season and 4-8 in the SEC.
