Washington downed in season opener
Demons play Muscatine tough, fall by 14 in first game of the year

MUSCATINE — Washington traveled Northeast to Muscatine on Tuesday night for the first girls basketball game of the season. The Demons fell 57-31 against he Muskies, the closest Washington has come in the series since 2016.
Muscatine had a hot start, leading 16-7 after the first quarter. The Muskies led 29-20 at halftime and 40-28 after three quarters.
Addison Miller put up 12 points and seven rebounds on the night to lead Washington. Kendall Hinrichsen finished with eight.
Adalyn Long scored seven points and led the team with four assists. Maci Williams scored four points and six rebounds. Taylor Bartholomew and Faith Salvador each had three points.
The Demons are now 0-1 on the young season. Washington will host Albia on Tuesday night in the team’s home opener.
