Washington eighth grade boys track team earns numerous first place finishes in recent meets

The Washington eighth grade boys track team had five first place finishes in the meet at Fort Madison Tuesday, April 25.

Spencer Sotelo ended the day with three first-place finishes. He had a time of 26.27 in the 200-meter dash.

He had a time of 27.79 in the 200-meter hurdles for a first-place finish and took first in the long jump going 16 feet 6 1/2 inches.

Brian Martin, Wilx Witthoft, Quinn Alexander and Sotelo took first in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 51.07.

Coming in first in the 4x200-meter relay was Reece Mayer, Witthoft, Zach Stout and Alexander with a time of 1:49.56.

Washington ended the meet in second place.

The boys traveled to Fairfield Tuesday, May 2, to take part in their invitational where the team finished in fourth place.

The lone top finish was in the shuttle hurdle relay. Sotelo, Wyatt Stout, Mayer and Brian Martin finished in 1:07.38 to take first place.

The boys are host to an invitational Friday, May 5, starting at 4:30 p.m.
