Washington eighth-grade boys win home track meet
The Washington eighth-grade boys? track and field team won its home meet on Tuesday. The Demons won six events and scored 123 points to finish 11 points ahead of second-place Mt. Pleasant.

The Washington eighth-grade boys? track and field team won its home meet on Tuesday. The Demons won six events and scored 123 points to finish 11 points ahead of second-place Mt. Pleasant.
Sprinter Kyle Schindler had a big night for the Demons. He won the 100-meter dash in 12.45 seconds, won the 200-meter dash in 25.92 seconds and was a member of Washington?s first-place 4x200 relay team. The quartet of Matt Reighard, Ryan Loy, Schindler and Drake Brezina won in 1:46.68.
Washington?s 4x100 relay team of Bryce Craff, Reighard, Noah Bruns and Brezina took first place in 51.75 seconds, and the quartet of Trey Van Weelden, Kyle Anderson, Craff and Brezina won the 4x400 relay in 4:09.73. The Demons? shuttle hurdle relay team of Anderson, Bruns, Austin Hazelett and David Bradford won in 1:04.16.
Bradford took second place in the 10-flight hurdles in 15.59 seconds, and Hazelett was third in 15.84 seconds. Anderson finished second in the 200-meter hurdles in 29.12 seconds, and teammate Marshall Goodwin was fifth in 31.09 seconds. Jake Reighard took second place in the 400-meter dash in 1:06.97, and teammate Victor Miller was fourth in 1:07.59.
Washington?s 800 medley relay team of Tanner Coleman, Van Weelden, Loy and Hazelett took second place in 1:56.59, and the quartet of Van Weelden, Jake Wheeler, Bruns and Dakota Kron was second in 4:24.27. The 4x800 relay team of Jesus Nunez, Owen Horak, Bryce Sinn and David Mares finished second in 10:07.
Carlton Skubal took second place in the shot put competition with a throw of 39 feet, 5 inches, and Sinn?s throw of 33 feet was good for third place. Bradford cleared 4 feet, 8 inches to take second place in the high jump competition, and Hazelett cleared 4 feet, 4 inches to finish fifth. Craff placed third in the long jump competition with a leap of 15 feet, 9 inches.
Kron finished third in the 800-meter run in 2:33.62, and Horak was fourth in 2:37.89. Wheeler took third place in the 1,600-meter run in 5:43.98. Sinn finished fourth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:46.61, and Horak was fifth in 5:47.18.
