Washington football ready to take on Burlington
Demons looking for back-to-back wins over Grayhounds

WASHINGTON — Washington football is back in action on Friday night with its first home game of the season.
The Demons will look to bounce back in week two after suffering a 28-14 loss to Oskaloosa last week on the road.
The Demons led that contest 6-0 after one quarter, but the Indians outscored them 28-8 the rest of the way out.
Washington's opponent? The Grayhounds of Burlington.
Burlington comes into the matchup off a week one loss as well. The Grayhounds fell in a nail-biter to Fort Madison to kick off the season.
Currently, Washington holds a 2-1 all-time record against Burlington. The Demons will look to make it two wins in two years against the Grayhounds, as they edged them a year ago 21-14.
Through one game, junior Logan McDole leads the Demons in passing with 10 completions for 95 yards and one touchdown. McDole also has 30 yards on the ground.
Sophomore Kael Williams was the Demon's primary ball carrier a week ago. Williams rushed 18 times for 57 yards and one touchdown.
Luke Beenblossom, Casen Evans and Alec Ulin carried the ball at least once.
As for receiving, five different Demons caught a ball in the opening week.
Luke Beenblossom was the leading pass catcher, reeling in four balls for 15 yards.
Mason Morgan leads in yards with 31 on two catches. Williams caught two passes as well for 24 yards. Conner Leyden has one catch for 20 yards, and Ulin caught one ball for five yards.
Defensively, Casen Evans leads in total tackles. Evans currently sits with six tackles. Caden Greiner follows with 5.5 total tackles.
Morgan also has a fumble recovery and an interception for Washington.
Gabe Robinson completed just one pass in week one for 11 yards for Burlington.
On the ground, Caden Schisel had 142 yards rushing on 17 carries.
Robinson follows with 121 yards and two touchdowns.
Zuriel Garrett has the lone reception.
Defensively, Gavin Carlson has a team-high seven tackles.
Friday night's game will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Washington's Case Field.
