WASHINGTON — After dropping its first game of the season on Monday against defending Southeast Conference Champions Fort Madison, Washington bounced back with a dominating 11-1 victory over Sigourney-Keota.
It took the Demons just over twenty minutes to get going against the Cobras on Tuesday afternoon, but the flood gates blew open following the opening goal.
Washington controlled possession for much of the game, and finally got on the board at the 18:57 mark in the first half off a shot from Fedy Aguilar that was assisted by Kevin Marcelino.
By the end of the first half, Washington would hold a 3-0 goal lead.
Marcelino was all over the scoring column in the first half, partaking in each of the Demons three first half goals, assisting on the second and scoring the third himself.
In the second half, the Demons continued to poured it on, but not before the Cobras found their first goal.
Sigourney-Keota’s Ty Shafranek was able place a shot directly over the head of Washington keeper DaShaun Westphal-Edwards to make it 3-1 ballgame with 35:33 to go in the second.
From that point on, it was all Washington.
After just under 20 minutes of play in the second half, Washington had accumulated an additional three goals, increasing the lead to 6-1.
It didn’t stop there, as in the final 18 minutes of the contest, Washington found the net another five times giving itself an 11-1 lead and ending the game with 4:50 on the clock.
Marcelino finished with two goals and three assist in the contest. Aguilar ended with two goals and one assist. Westphal-Edwards had two goals. Cole Anderson finished with two goals. Brayan Arreola scored and assisted. Emre Akgul tallied a goal and assist. Erick Ortez Jr. had one goal. Brian Fritz and Emanuel Raymundo both finished with an assist.

With the win, the Demons move to 3-1 on the season and will look to continue winning on Thursday against Fairfield.
