Washington girls back in cross-country rankings

The big news from cross-country rankings was the Washington girls team is back in the top 20.
Lance Sobaski dropped his position at No. 6 in the Class 3A rankings by the Iowa Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches. Sobaski went to No. 7 with Washington teammate Micah Rees at 24 in Class 3A. Mt. Pleasant’s Abby Blint at the No. 20 spot.
As a boys team, Washington moved from No. 20 to No. 19.
Mid-Prairie maintained its secure spot as the No. 1 girls team in 2A as did Danielle Hostetler in the individual rankings. Teammate Phoebe Shetler continued her steady climb in the rankings top 30, up to No. 14 spot behind Golden Hawk Sydney Yoder at 13. Jaden Yoder is 18 and Mitzi Evans 25.
Thaddeus Shetler is sixth and his Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks are fourth in the 2A boys team rankings.
For the third week, Freddy Vergara of Columbus (19) and Pekin’s Zack Wise (26) are ranked in 1A. The Columbus boys dropped a spot to 17.
Pekin’s girls, still No. 3 in 1A, have only Lauren Dershied ranked. She was at No. 15 for the second consecutive week.
Alexander Julian stayed at No. 7 and Ty Carr rose to No. 3 as Danville/New London stayed in its position as the top-ranked 2A boys team. Rylan Martin is maintaining at 23 and Seth Bailey at 25.
