WEST LIBERTY — A strong start turned into a disappointing finish for the Washington girls basketball team on Tuesday night.
The Demons came into West Liberty looking for a non-conference win, but couldn’t hang on to a late lead, falling 48-42.
Washington led the game 27-15 at halftime, and the Demons held a 32-25 lead after three quarters, but West Liberty came roaring back in the final eight minutes.
The Demons were coming off a big conference home win against Fairfield on Dec. 13, but including that game, Washington has dropped five of its last six.
Now 2-5 overall and 1-1 in Southeast Conference play, the Demons will travel to Mt. Pleasant (1-6, 0-2) on Friday night to face off with the rival Panthers.
