Washington girls golf rolls in Fort Madison
The Demons best Mt. Pleasant and Fairfield for the top spot

FORT MADISON — Washington girls golf continues to thrive in the early season, picking up yet another meet win.
The Demons took first overall as a squad with a score of 181, 20 strokes better than the second place Grayhounds of Burlington. Keokuk finished in third, golfing a 208 and Fairfield came away with a fourth-place finish after tallying a score of 218. Mt. Pleasant was unable to post a team score due to only have two competitors. Fort Madison also did not post a team score.
Washington’s Makenna Conrad grabbed another meet win, this time around finishing with a 39 to take the top spot, tied with Kaylin Long for the best team score this season. Conrad was the only sub 40 scorer in the competition. Long put together a nice performance, picking up a third-place finish after posting a 44. Alecia Goff shot a 47 on the day, Mallary Johnson had 51, Maci Williams tallied a 54 and Haley Mitchell a 64.
For Fairfield, Viola Welsh was the highest finisher. The junior put together a 43, for the second best score on the day. Teammate Macy Rayburn scored a 51, Maggie Rayburn and Jolie Crile had scores of 62.
Samantha Wibben was a fourth place finisher for Mt. Pleasant after posting a score of 45. Kylie Walderbach followed with a final score of 58.
Washington, Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant will return to the course on Monday, April 18 with the Panthers playing host.
