The Washington girls soccer team lost to Fairfield at home Thursday, April 13, by a 1-10 score.
Fairfield took control of the scoring early when they put up three points within the first 17 minutes of play.
Washington?s Joanna Segura scored for the Demons 22 minutes into the game, which would be Washington?s only point.
Fairfield would take the ball back and forth on the field and would put up two more before the half.
After the break, Fairfield dominated the scoring as they put up three more within the first five minutes of action.
Both teams would pass the ball to each other but Fairfield would make sure they added to their lead after a goal at the 19-minute mark of the second half followed by the final goal with 12:51 left to play.
The Demons did have good footwork in the game and that was something coach Kyle Collins likes to see.
?I?m pleased to see that,? he says. ?After the last game, we picked out a few things to work on and not fix the entire game at once and that was one of them ? to make some more passes. We saw it, it was better today.?
The girls also worked on communicating in the game as well. Was that an improvement?
?That goes along with the passes. If they can bring the communication in, things will turn around, and they did.?
As for the overall game play Collins says, ?Today, we needed to work on our positioning.
?Fairfield did a good job of spreading us out and we were bunching.
?I think for the next game we need to remember positions and go from there and I hope it helps everybody out on the field.?
The girls fall to a 0-3 record and will play at Mediapolis Monday, April 17, starting at 4 p.m.
