WASHINGTON — In what was the final Southeast Conference match of the season for Washington girls’ soccer, the Demons came up just short of victory.
In what ended up being a nail bitter to the final minutes, Washington was bested by Burlington 1-0 to cap off conference play.
Both teams were tightly contested through the match, but the one Grayhound goal ended up being the winner.
Burlington put the ball into the back of the net in the fourth minute.
Although Washington created a handful of looks at goal, which included a tying opportunity with just two minutes to go, the Demons couldn’t complete the comeback.
The Demon girls finish SEC play with a 5-5 record and drop to 9-5 overall.
They will square of with Mid-Prairie and look to get back on track on Thursday at home. Washington finishes the season fourth in the conference, while Burlington is the SEC champion.
