Washington girls take first at Rocket Relays
Demons post highest team total followed by Fairfield in third

EDDYVILLE — The Washington and Fairfield girls track and field teams were in action last Thursday in the EBF Girls Rocket Relays.
For both Washington and Fairfield it was a nice showing on the track as the Demons finished first overall, while the Trojans followed close behind in third.
Washington tallied a total of 142 team points and the Trojans finished with 89.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, North Polk, Des Moines Christian, North Mahaska and Chariton all took part as well.
Both squads had an abundance of winners on the day.
Iris Dahl was a winner for Washington in the 800-meter run. Dahl ran 2:38.03 to top the field. Lauren Horak finished fourth for the Demons as well with a 2:43.13.
Ally Rees was a winner in the discus. Rees threw 101-11 for first overall. Kadence Howell and Taylor Miksch finished fourth and fifth as well. Howell threw 84-05 feet and Miksch 81-06.
Dahl and Quincy Griffis went two and three in the 1500-meter. Dahl clocked 5:18.07 and Griffis 5:41.78 for the finish.
In the 200-meter, the Demons Grace Voss was a runner-up with a time of 29.24. Ada Kendall followed in fourth with a 29.73.
Dahl took second in the 400-meter for Washington with a 62.78. Voss followed in third after running 63.85.
Griffis finished second in the 3000-meter run for the Demons. She clocked a time of 11:54.82 for the runner-up position.
Ryen Pepper earned a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 75.03. Kendall Hinrichsen followed in fifth with a time of 78.08.
Washington’s Emery Walton and Ada Kendall went four and five in the 100-meter dash with time of 14.62 and 14.64.
Rees was a fourth-place finisher for Washington in shot put. Rees threw 30-10.75 feet for fourth.
The Demon’s Leighton Messinger was a fifth-place finisher in the 100-meter hurdles after running a time of 17.79.
In the 4x800 meter relay, the Demons finished with the top time of 10:41.76.
In the 4x100 meter shuttle hurdle relay, Washington finished second after a time of 74.51.
In the 4x200, the Demons ran a 1:58.53 for third. Washington’s 4x400 ran a 4:30.57 for third as well.
Washington took fourth in the 4x100 with a time of 53.90.
In the sprint medley, Washington took fifth with a 2:04.10 time. The Demon’s distance medley finished fifth as well with a time of 5:11.02.
Fairfield’s Kiya Robertson took the win in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.13. Teammate Coty Engle finished third with a 14.53.
Carley Seeley picked up another first-place finish for the Trojans with a time of 11:52.62 in the 3000-meter run. Caroline Van Pelt finished fourth after a time of 12:47.92.
Elyse Setterstrom grabbed a second-place finish in the discus. Setterstrom threw the disc 91-01 feet.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Lilly Bergren finished second for the Trojans with a time of 17.48. Maya Lane took third with a 17.60.
The Trojan’s Addison Ferrel finished fifth in the 800-meter in a time of 2:43.66.
Malena Bloomquist took fifth in the 1500-meter run for the Trojans as well with a time of 5:59.62.
Fairfield took second in the 4x100 after running a time of 52.23.
The Trojans also finished second in the 4x800 meter relay after clocking a time of 10:48.82.
In the sprint medley, Fairfield earned runners-up once again with a time of 1:59.19.
Fairfield took fourth in the 4x100 meter shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 77.53.
Fairfield’s 4x200 finished fifth after a time of 2:01.73.
