Washington goes 4-1 in home tournament
Demons win four straight, but fall to Regina Catholic in final

WASHINGTON — Washington volleyball put together a fantastic performance over the weekend as the Demons hosted their annual Washington Volleyball Classic.
The Demons finished the Saturday tournament with a 4-1 overall record.
Washington won four straight matches before falling short in the tournament final.
The Union area’s Highland, WACO and Hillcrest Academy took part as well.
Regina Catholic, Tri-County and Sigourney all competed in the tournament as well.
Washington opened the tournament with a dominant win over Tri-County, 2-0. The Demons downed the Trojans 21-14 and 21-11.
Leighton Messinger finished with 10 kills in that match and 12 digs. Taylor Miksch ended with five kills.
Lauren Hinrichsen totaled 11 assists and Remy Messinger had six.
Following the win over Tri-County, Washington topped WACO and Highland both 2-0.
Against WACO, Washington won 21-12 and 21-14.
Ella Greiner has six kills against the Warriors. Hinrichsen and Remy Messinger both had eight assists.
Greiner and Ruby Wiffhoft both had five digs.
Washington defeated Highland 21-14 and 21-9.
Greiner ended with 10 kills, followed by Leighton Messinger with eight.
Remy Messinger finished with 11 assists and Hinrichsen eight.
Leighton and Remy Messinger each had five digs.
In the Demons fourth match of the afternoon, Washington suffered its first set loss, but it wouldn’t matter.
The Demons took down Hillcrest Academy 2-1, 21-9, 18-21 and 15-7.
Leighton Messinger and Greiner finished with eight kills.
Remy Messinger had 11 assists. Taylor Miksch and Greiner had eight digs.
In the Demons final contest of the tournament, they matched up with Regina Catholic.
Washington battled the Regals tough, but suffered back-to-back set losses 21-18 and 21-16.
Leighton Messinger had nine kills against the Regals, along with four digs.
Lauren Hinrichsen finished with 11 assists.
Isabella Salazar and Ella Greiner both ended with four digs as well.
WACO and Hillcrest Academy finished the day at 2-2, while Highland went 1-3.
