Washington golf enters day two in 10th at state
Demon’s Roth tied for 20th, Hillcrest’s Jace Rempel tied for 13th

AMES — It was an eventful day on the golf course for the Washington boys golf team and Jace Rempel of Hillcrest Acadmey on Monday.
The Demons, along with Rempel competed in the first day of the Iowa High School Boys State Golf Tournament.
Washington played at Veenker Memorial Golf Course, 3A, while Rempel golfed at Ames Golf and County Club, 1A.
The Demons are sitting in 10th as of day one. Rempel is tied for 13th.
Roman Roth led the Demons in day one. He shot an 84 in his first 18 holes, 41 on the front nine and 43 on the back nine. Roth tied for 20th.
Luke Beenblossom tied for 49th with a 95 after 18 holes. John Prochaska and Grant Sobaski each shot a 102 on the day. The duo tied for 57th. Teague Mayer chipped in 103 for 60th. Isaac Vetter shot 104 for 61st.
Rempel shot 43 on his front nine and 48 on the back nine for his placing.
Day two of the state tournament were played on Tuesday and will be in Thursday’s paper.
