MOUNT VERNON — Former Washington standout Kole Hinrichsen is doing big things at the next level. The 2019 graduate and current Cornell Ram was named to the 2022 All-Midwest Conference Baseball Second Team last week.
Hinrichsen led the MWC with 44 strikeouts over 42.2 innings in MWC games this season. He finished the year with a 4.22 earned run average.
In six starts, Hinrichsen went into the seventh inning in every single one of them. He went 3-2 overall this season with a 4.43 ERA. In all games combined, he struck out 71 batters, which was the second-best total in school history.
Hinrichsen is the Rams’ seventh All-Conference pitcher in a row. The team won six of the last seven games that saw Hinrichsen take the mound.
Hinrichsen was a star in his time at Washington. He finished his senior year with a 0.81 ERA, and struck out 73 batters to help lead the Demons to a 22-9 record. That Washington team finished third in the Soutehast Conference and nearly upset Davenport Assumption in the substate semifinal game, falling 2-1.
Hinrichsen still has one more year of eligibility with Cornell.
