Washington handles Burlington in SEC clash on the mats
Demons top seven of 14 matches on their way to another conference victory
WASHINGTON — Washington Demon wrestling has been nothing short of amazing on the mats this season, especially in Southeast Conference head-to-heads.
The Demons have handled nearly all of their SEC foes and added another conference dual win to their tally on Thursday. Washington defeated Burlington 42-30 at home.
Washington opened on a positive note as Layne Moore took a forfeit victory at 138, followed by a 5:42 pin by Bryer Billingsly at 144. The two victories put the Demons up 12-0.
Lane Schrock lost a nail biter at 150 to the Grayhounds Adrian Perez-Hall by decision, 8-4, to put Burlington on the board.
Through the next three matches, it was back and forth.
Chase Greiner notched a victory at 157 with a quick pin in 57 seconds over Aman Nash to extend Washington’s lead once again.
At 165, the Demon’s Mark Chenoweth was pinned by the Grayhound’s Owen Difederico and then Blaine Rees pinned Micah Zaugg in just under a minute to give Washington its fourth win of the evening.
After a double forfeit at 190, Burlington took control of the dual over the following three matches. Rudy Wolfe suffered a loss by decision, 8-3, at 285. The Grayhounds carded another victory at 106 by forfeit and then Joseph Schreiber was pinned at 113.
Following the three losses, the Demons found themselves down 30-24. However, the Demons dominated the final three matches of the night.
Nate Edmonds pinned Joe Ebert in 43 seconds at 120. Caden Greiner was a winner by fall in 4:45 over Buxton Carlson and then Aaron Boone closed it out at 132 with a forfeit win.
