The Washington track teams went to WACO for a meet on Thursday afternoon, and came away with a number of top finishes.
The Washington girls took second place at the meet, helped by first-place finishes from McKayla Miller in the shot put and Macy Marek in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
Earning second-place finishes for Washington were Morgan Kimball (400-meters), Kayla Andrew (800-meters) and Emme Keith (1500-meters).
In the relays, the sprint medley team of Makenzi Marek, Macy Marek, Kimball and Makenna Rich took first place, while the 4 x 100-meter relay team of Kimball, both Mareks and Amber Salow and the 4 x 800-meter relay team of Andrew, Keith, Brooke Stout and Mariah Howard finished in second place.
Washington sophomore Kyle Schindler helped lead the way for the Demon boys with a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 11.87 seconds.
?I thought it was very good,? Washington boys? track head coach Steve Roth said. ?Kyle has a lot of fire and he?s been gone a couple of weeks because of the play. He did an outstanding job there and I was hoping his 100 time would be where it was. He?s been really busy and this is what I?m looking for with him.?
Schindler also took sixth place in the long jump, as the Demon boys took eighth place at the meet.
Individually for the Washington boys, Jacob Hennigan took first place for the 110-meter hurdles, Tommy Peterson won the shot put and Curtis Vest took second in the 3200-meter run.
In the relays, Hennigan, Alex Gonzalez, Caleb Bex and Gage Redlinger won the shuttle hurdle relay, while Ethan Hansen, Bryce Rickey, Ryan Reighard and Redlinger took second place in the 4 x 200-meter relay.
The Washington boys and girls will be at Fairfield on Monday for their next meets.
