It was a tough Friday night for the Washington basketball teams as they both took the long trip to Keokuk, and came away with a loss.
The Demon girls had a tough test in front of them in the opening contest, taking on the No. 4 ranked Chiefs.
Keokuk and Washington played tight in the contest, with the Demons hanging around until a fourth-quarter outburst put the Chiefs in position to win the game.
The Demons trailed by four points heading into the fourth quarter, but the Chiefs broke the game open, outscoring Washington 21-9 in the final frame to win 51-34.
Sarah Nacos led the team with nine points, while Addie Pacha had eight and Amber Salow notched six points.
The Demon girls fall to 7-9 with the loss, and will look to right the ship with a road contest at Davis County.
The Washington boys were looking to avenge a home loss from earlier in the year on Friday night, but couldn?t find the right groove to do so, falling 79-50.
The Chiefs picked up the lead early, and extended it to 20 points by halftime, never letting Washington get within 16 points in the entire second half.
The Demons were led by Derek Anding?s 26 points, as the Demon senior nailed three 3-pointers on a night that saw him go 7-for-11 from the floor.
Jack Giardino had nine points in the loss, while John Dillon picked up six points. Dalton Myers notched four points, four rebounds and three assists in the game.
Washington falls to 4-9 on the year with the loss, and they will look to rebound against Fort Madison on Friday night.
