WASHINGTON — The Heartland Youth for Christ hosted its second annual Mid-Night Madness Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 29.
The tournament, which began back in the mid-90s, is an all-night lock-in event. Meaning that once you leave, you can’t come back.
From 6 p.m. to mid-night on Friday, students ranging from eighth grade all the way to 12th participated in an 5-on-5 double elimination basketball tournament.
Participants were given pizza and got the opportunity to hear from guest speaker, Pastor Darren Brown.
Brown talked about his upbringing and the struggles he faced during life, which included prison, later finding solace in Jesus Christ.
After competing through the night, an award ceremony was held to name the first, second and third finishers. Awards for best sportsman, best team player and best overall player.
Keokuk was this years tournament champions for the second year in a row.
