FAIRFIELD - It is considered a trap game. One team has nothing to lose and one team has evreyhting to lose. It is also a heated rivalry where the records do not matter.
Washington has a 5-2 record and a chance at qualifying for the postseason. Fairfield is at 0-7 and would love to spoil the Demons' postseason chances.
A win in Fairfield's Pearl Smith Stadium would make the Trojans season.
'Fairfield has some big guys up front. They have some talent. They have some size,” Washington coach James Harris said. 'They're going to spread the ball around. We will be looking for some trick plays. They will throw everything at us but the kitchen sink, who knows. They have a brand-new coach who is trying to establish a culture. We need to take care of ourselves.”
Fairfield's Carter Ferrel is 55 of 130 for 829 yards passing while Washington's Luke Turner is 71 of 138 for 1,198 yards.
Washington's Wyatt Stout has 96 carries for 608 yards while Fairfield's Leone Gichure has 106 carries for 403 yards.
Fairfield's Landon Kooiker has 19 receptions for 293 yards and three touchdowns. Washington's Ethan hunt has 20 catches for 509 yards and five TDs.
Fairfield's Drew Martin is fourth in Class 3A District 6 with 46 total tackles. He has seven solo tackles for loss, which is tied for fourth with Washington's Trashaun Willis, among others. Dillon Sanders is Washington's leading tackler with 35.
