Washington High School's girls basketball team lost 41-37 at Burlington Thursday.
The Demons led 11-7 after one quarter and 22-19 at the half, but scored just seven in the third.
'We played a good first half, but couldn't continue it in the second half,” WHS coach Shannon Rugg said. 'We made too many mistakes to win the game.”
The Demons were led by Kira Ropp with nine points and six rebounds. Haylee Wilson had eight points, seven rebounds and two steals. Phelan Hostetler had eight points and four rebounds off the bench. Addison Six had five points and 14 rebounds. Kinzey Duwa had four points, two assists and two steals. Isabel Bailey had three points
'Isabel was hurt and only played the first five minutes of the game,” Rugg said. I thought Duwa and Kellie Dallmeyer both played well for us at the point guard spot once we lost Bailey. We have some work to do, but the girls stayed positive and gave ourselves a chance to win. We just couldn't execute our offense well enough in the second half to pull out a win.”
The Demons are 1-1 and host Solon Saturday.
