Washington middle school wrestlers win 24 matches at first meet
The Washington middle school wrestling team opened its season on Nov. 27 with a meet at Fort Madison, where the Demons wrestled against Fairfield, Keokuk and the host Bloodhounds. Washington?s wrestlers won 24 of their 46 matches at the meet.

?We have 13 new wrestlers this year, so we are really working on the basics,? Washington head coach Shawn Ellingson said. ?To finish the night with 24 wins and 22 losses shows these kids are working hard and are very athletic.?
Trey Van Weelden, Kyle Anderson, Chandler Reid, Tanner Murphy, Austin Hazelett, Seth Townsend, Andrew Waite, Gabe Greiner, Alex Latcham, Jacob Hall and Dakota Kron each won both of their matches at the meet. Cody Mellinger and Dalton Moeller both went 1-1.
