Washington, Mt. Pleasant’s Matheney advance to districts
Demon’s Roth places third, Panther’s Matheney fifth

FORT MADISON — It was a great day on the golf course at Sheaffer Memorial for both Washington and Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday.
The Demons finished the day with a second-place finish tallying 325 points and a spot to districts secured.
Mt. Pleasant ended with a fourth-place finish as a team, 330, bumping them out for contention as a team, but Nick Matheney will represent the Panthers in the individual competitions.
Matheney finished fifth with a score of 74 on the day. He moves on as team champion Solon placed two inside the top four, along with Washington’s Roman Roth. Roth shot a 72 on the day.
Matheney along with Notre Dame’s Kaleb Allen move on because they were the top two individuals not on an advancing team.
Fairfield misses out on a spot at districts. The Trojans finished the day in fifth-place, totaling 350 points.
Along with Roth’s scores, Luka Beenblossom shot an 82. Grant Sobaski had a 85. Isaac Vetter ended with a 86. John Prochaska carded a 88 and Teague Mayer a 89.
Reece Kempker followed Matheney, shooting an 81. Ian Hake chipped in an 87. Reece Coffman carded an 88. Nate Dismang ended with 94 and Izaac Zihlman a 111.
Fairfield was paced by Max Weaton. Weaton shot an 84 on the day. Evan Haines followed with an 86. Nate Smithburg tallied an 89. Dev Eisner had a 91. Nile Christensen had a 93 and Sam Weaton a 94.
