OSKALOOSA - The Washington High School boys basketball played its second straight two-point game Tuesday with freshman Ethan Patterson as the high scorer for the Demons.
After a 54-52 win Friday over Burlington, the Demons lost at nonconference foe Oskaloosa Tuesday 52-50.
'We had multiple chances to win the game, but our shots just weren't falling in the forth quarter,” Washington head coach Collin Stark said. 'They got up by one point off of a 3-pointer and then missed free throws in the last minute. Those misses kept giving us a chance, but just couldn't make the play.”
Patterson had 17 points, 15 on the first half when the Demons mounted a massive rally in the second quarter.
'We got down big in the first quarter, but battled back to take a three-point lead at half,” Stark said. 'The 3-point shots kept them around in the second half. We had opportunities to stretch the lead, but timely shots kept them in it.”
The Demons trailed 21-7 at the end of the opening quarter, but led 31-28 at the half. The teams were tied at 44 starting the fourth quarter.
Noah Van Volduzun had 21 points for Oskaloosa and Iszac Schultz had 16. Iowa State recruit Xavier Foster did not play.
