Despite being bracketed with multiple ranked teams, the postseason road is filled with familiar faces for the Washington girls? basketball team.
Washington sits at 7-9 on the season under first-year head coach Jordan Bentley, already improving on a six-win season a year ago, and Bentley?s first postseason test as a Demon will be against Oskaloosa, at home, on Feb. 17.
The Demons played against Osky less than a month ago, picking up a 53-50 victory over the Indians at home, led by sophomore Sarah Nacos? 19 points and four 3-pointers.
Washington senior Morgan Kimball was also a key part of the victory, picking up 13 points and hitting 8-of-12 free throws, but she has been ruled out for the season with an injury.
If the Demons can get past Oskaloosa, they will travel to face another familiar opponent in Fairfield.
The Trojans swept Washington in conference play this season, winning each game by an average of 17 points, the most recent being a 73-53 loss on the road.
In the two contests against Fairfield, Nacos averaged 11.5 points per game, while senior McKayla Miller picked up 16 points in the most recent game.
Senior Brynna DeLong also averaged 8.5 points and eight rebounds in the pair of games.
The winner of that game would advance to the regional final to face off against the survivor of top seed Keokuk, Fort Madison or Mt. Pleasant.
Fort Madison and Mt. Pleasant meet in the first round, with the winner advancing to face Keokuk.
The regional final will be played at the highest remaing seed.
Washington will continue its season on Friday, when it travels to Fort Madison.
