Washington scoops up boys golf victory
Demons get 2nd laugh in SEC regular season meet

KEOKUK — The Southeast Conference boys soccer season made its way to Keokuk on Monday night as the schedule hit Elks Fairview Golf Course in Keokuk.
After getting nipped by Fairfield in the first meet of the year, Washington grabbed its first SEC win. The Demons shot a 163, sneaking past Fairfield (166) by three strokes. Mt. Pleasant was once again right on the leaders’ heals, shooting 172 for third.
The Demons were led by a pair of scores under 40. Roman Roth and Grant Sobaski each shot 39 on the day to help the Demons grasp victory. Isaac Vetter shot a 41. Teague Mayer finished at 44. Luke Beenblossom shot 46, and John Prochaska finished at 52.
Fairfield’s Sam Weaton joined Roth and Sobaski in the under-40 club. The Trojan sophomore shot a 39 to lead the Trojans to second place. Max Weaton and Dev Eisner both shot 42. Nile Christensen finished at 43, and both Evan Haines and Austin Lisk shot 48.
Mt. Pleasant was paced by Reece Kemkper, who finished up at 41. Nick Matheney was right behind him with a 42. Nate Dismang shot 44. Reece Coffman finished at 45. Ben Meador ended the day at 61, and Izaac Zihlman finished at 67.
The SEC regular season will continue in Mt. Pleasant on Thursday.
