WASHINGTON — The senior golf league at Washington Golf and Country Club finished another round of action last week.
The league, which features around 40 men, gathers each week to compete in a round of best shot golf. Best shot formats change each week and teams are determined by a random drawing.
There can be anywhere from two man competition to four man competition. Five different events are played each week.
In this weeks action, Rick Bennett and Sid Manfull putted their way to victory in Wednesday’s afternoon featured match.
The duo hit putt after putt culminating into a three-stroke victory.
Dave Sorrell and Chuck Doughty did all they could, but Bennett and Manfull could do no wrong on the green.
In other competition, Doug Dunlap and Mike Haskins topped the 16 team two man best shot field with a cool 33, featuring three birdies and one bogey.
Leonard Kull notched a birdie putt on hole nine to seal a tie breaker finish, as he and Tim Elliot edged Brian Crooks and Craig Paul.
In the second flight, Bud Dameron and Carl Chalupa shot a two over 37 for a one shot victory over Mark Eighmy and Keith Hora.
Roger Harris and Doug Conrad followed in third.
In the weekly spot prize contest, Rick People’s collected the cash on the closest to the marker on hole one.
The competition’s closest to the hole winners on hole two and five were Eighmy and Elliot.
On six, Kull took home the prize with an accurate tee shot and Al Schmidt made the longest putt of the day on nine.
The group has a carry over hole in one pot for anyone that successfully hit a hole in one. Currently the pot is up to $500.
Eighmy nearly cashed in on the prize on hole two, but his shot stopped just short of the hole.
The league will be back at it again this week for more senior golf action.
