Washington senior golf results: 2-person match play
Aug. 14, 2023 1:29 pm
Wednesday’s Washington senior golf league action saw a cool damp day and soft greens.
The format was two person match play where there had to be a winner on each hole. If the teams tied they went to a designated spot and a winner was determined by a chip off. Pin placement made the chips difficult, fun and exciting.
In the featured match of the day, Doug Dunlap and Duane Van Winkle edged Mike Haskins and Don Miller 1 up. Haskins and Miller took an early 2-1 lead. Dunlap and Van Winkle rallied to win 4, 5 and 6, only to see their opponents win the next two to level the score 4-4 Dunlap and Van Winkle secured the win with a chip off victory on the last hole.
In other action, Tom Hoskins’ 25 foot putt on hole 1 wasn’t enough as he and Don Kline fell to Keith Hora and Tom Lowe. Craig Paul and Bill Gevock shot a 32 for the low score of the day.
