Washington seventh-grade girls finish third in Fort Madison
The Washington seventh-grade girls? track and field team finished third out of seven teams at the Fort Madison Middle School Invitational on April 29.
Keokuk won the meet with 144 points, and Mt. Pleasant was second with 133 points. The Demons scored 73.5 points to edge Fairfield by half a point for third place.

The Washington seventh-grade girls? track and field team finished third out of seven teams at the Fort Madison Middle School Invitational on April 29.
Keokuk won the meet with 144 points, and Mt. Pleasant was second with 133 points. The Demons scored 73.5 points to edge Fairfield by half a point for third place.
Brooke Stout had Washington?s only first-place finish at the meet, winning the shot put competition with a throw of 22 feet, 11.25 inches.
Washington?s 4x400 relay team of Kayla Andrew, Morgan Brinning, Allison Vogel and Megan Strabala took second place in 4:55.10. The quartet of Regan Caffery, Kristin Twinam, Andrew and Stout finished third in the distance medley relay in 5:36.84, and the shuttle hurdle relay team of Andrew, Caffery, Strabala and Brinning was third in 1:20.84. The quartet of Meredith Raber, Mackenzie Beam, Vogel and Baylee Stalder finished fifth in the sprint medley relay in 2:24.74.
Strabala took third place in the 400-meter dash in 1:12.44, and Vogel was fourth in 1:13.84. Stalder finished third in the 1,500-meter run in 6:06.81.
Beam took third place in the discus competition with a throw of 51 feet, 4 inches, and Andrew?s toss of 50 feet, 10 inches was good for fourth place. Caffery finished fourth in the shot put competition with a throw of 20 feet, 0.25 inches. Strabala cleared 3 feet, 10 inches to take fourth place in the high jump competition, and Michaela Hoffman cleared 3 feet, 8 inches to tie for fifth place.
Brinning came in fourth in the 800-meter run in 3:01.49, and Stout was sixth in 3:17.12. Brinning also finished sixth in the long jump competition with a leap of 13 feet, 4 inches.
