Washington seventh-grade girls place fifth at conference meet
The Washington seventh-grade girls? track and field team finished fifth out of eight teams at the Southeast Iowa Junior High Conference meet in Fort Madison on Monday.
Keokuk won the meet with 125 points, edging second-place Mt. Pleasant by five points. Fairfield finished third with 103 points, and the host Bloodhounds were fourth with 79 points. The Demons finished fifth in the standings with 44 points.

The Washington seventh-grade girls? track and field team finished fifth out of eight teams at the Southeast Iowa Junior High Conference meet in Fort Madison on Monday.
Keokuk won the meet with 125 points, edging second-place Mt. Pleasant by five points. Fairfield finished third with 103 points, and the host Bloodhounds were fourth with 79 points. The Demons finished fifth in the standings with 44 points.
Washington?s 4x400 relay team of Allison Vogel, Megan Strabala, Kayla Andrew and Morgan Brinning took second place in 4:55.31. The quartet of Andrew, Regan Caffery, Strabala and Brinning finished third in the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:20.03, and the distance medley relay team of Mackenzie Beam, McKenna Rich, Baylee Stalder and Brooke Stout was third in 5:30.45.
Stout took second place in the shot put competition with a throw of 22 feet, 9 inches, and Caffery finished fifth with a toss of 20 feet, 3.5 inches. Andrew took fifth place in the discus competition with a throw of 54 feet, 9 inches. Brinning finished fifth in the long jump competition with a leap of 12 feet, 5 inches.
Brinning finished fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:57.06, and Stalder was fifth in 2:57.38. Stout came in fifth in the 1,500-meter run in 6:08.61.
Washington?s 4x100 relay team of Beam, Alexis Edwards, Michaela Hoffman and Jessica Hora finished fifth in 1:08.69, and the quartet of Hoffman, Caffery, Kristin Twinam and Rich was fifth in 2:12.51. The sprint medley relay team of Beam, Hoffman, Rich and Vogel came in fifth in 2:21.88.
Twinam took sixth place in the 200-meter hurdles in 35.14 seconds, and Strabala was sixth in the 400-meter dash in 1:30.17.
