The Washington boys? soccer team snapped the program?s 18-match losing streak with a 3-2 win at Fairfield Maharishi last Friday. It was the Demons? first win since May 9, 2011.
?It certainly wasn?t a blowout, but it was a win nonetheless,? Washington head coach Steven Caulk said. ?It was exciting to get our first win.?
Playing what Caulk called an ?unusual game? on a short field, Washington juniors Mason Quigley and Chris Avila scored first-half goals as the Demons took a 2-0 halftime lead. Freshman Christian Mejia added a goal for Washington (1-5) in the second half.
?I think we could have played stronger defense, but we won, so I was happy with that,? Caulk said. ?It was our first win in years. It?s hard to complain too much about that.?
