Demons snap three-game skid
Washington boys basketball takes down Williamsburg after strong second half

Washington scored 52 points in the second half, and outpaced Williamsburg 27-17 in the fourth quarter en route to a four-point victory Monday night. The Demons snapped a three-game losing streak with a 79-74 victory over the Raiders.
The Demons found themselves down 41-27 at halftime against a struggling Raiders team, but rallied with a 25-point third quarter. Washington was lethal from beyond the 3-point line, going 11 of 15 to outlast Williamsburg.
Nic Stone made four of those 3-pointers to lead Washington with 19 points. The junior added three rebounds, one assist and a steal.
Both teams shot the ball exceptionally well in the tight matchup. Washington finished with a 67.6% clip from the field while Williamsburg shot north of 50% and went 42.9% from 3. Both the Demons and Raiders shot 75% from the free throw line.
Washington held on despite losing the rebounding battle 25-16 and the turnover battle by one. Washington tallied 12 steals and made nine more shots from the charity stripe than Williamsburg despite the matching free throw percentage.
Four of Washington’s five starters finished in double figures. Drew Conrad and Rajan Roth each scored with 17 points. Kael Williams tallied 14.
Conrad nearly had a double-double with nine assists along with three steals and two rebounds. Roth had four boards, two assists and two steals.
Williams paired his points with six rebounds three assists and three steals. Tate Greiner nearly made it five Demons starters in double figures with nine points on three made 3-pointers. Ashton Manz chipped in three points and two steals.
Washington (11-8, 4-5 Southeast) will finish conference play Friday against Burlington. The Grayhounds beat the Demons 66-56 at Washington and will host the rematch at 7:45 p.m. at Carl Johanssen Gymnasium.
