It was a extravagant night of soccer for Washington on Monday. Both the Washington boys and girls overwhelmed Keokuk, torching them for 10 goals each.
The boys were winners, 10-0, and the girls 10-2.
In the boys contest, it didn’t take long for the Demons to assert their dominance. Just four minutes into the game, the Demons held a 2-0 lead over the Chiefs. Emre Akgul and Erick Ortez Jr. both found the back of the net.
Over the course of the next 20 minutes, the Demons added another three goals making it a 5-0 ballgame. Bill De La Rosa scored off a penalty kick and Brayan Arreola found the back of the net twice.
Washington never let off the accelerator and by the half, it was a 9-0 game in favor of the Demons.
Needing just one goal to seal the deal and end the game early, De la Rosa delivered with a ball in the upper ninety just 10 minutes into the half to mercy rule the Chiefs.
Arreola ended the day with three goals and two assists. De La Rosa also finished with three goals. Ortez Jr. had a goal and two assists. Akgul tallied a goal and assist. Emanuel Raymundo and Kevin Marcelino both had a goal.
For the Washington girls, it was a cake walk.
The Demons dropped in five goals in the first half. The Chiefs stuck around in the rear view, scoring two goals of their own.
Come the second half, Washington road roughshod over Keokuk. The Demons held the Chiefs scoreless, while pouring in another five goals on their way to the win.
Giselle Marcelino had herself a day, scoring seven goals. Greta Rothe added two goals and Ava Turner had one.
Elyse Hunt had eight saves in goal.
The Washington boys and girls will both take on Burlington Thursday.
