Washington soccer team wins at home over Highland Tuesday
The Washington Demons boys soccer team kicked their way to victory Tuesday, May 16, as they won over the Highland Huskies by a final score of 12-2.

The Washington Demons boys soccer team kicked their way to victory Tuesday, May 16, as they won over the Highland Huskies by a final score of 12-2.
Washington got on the board first with 30:38 left on the clock when senior Kyle Anderson got the ball past the Highland keeper and into the goal.
The second goal immediate followed at 29:10 when Abdullah Talal scored. Caleb Suchan scored Washington?s third goal of the game with 26:37 remaining.
Matteo Hernandez put the ball into the net for Washington with 24:39 left in the first half to put Washington up 4-0.
Julio Salgado Hernandez scored after 25:14 of play and John Dillon scored the team?s sixth goal with 7:28 remaining.
Salgado-Hernandez scored his second goal of the game and the team?s seventh with 3:40 left in the half, where the score would remain through halftime.
After the break, Gabe Zimmer would get ball into the net after just 2:40 of play putting Washington even further ahead.
Suchan scored his second goal of the game with 25:43 remaining.
Garrett Ikerd would score next, just 45 seconds later. He followed up on scoring with another goal, this time after 19 minutes of play in the second half.
The final goal for Washington came with 18:50 left in the game, made by Thomas Zimmer.
Thomas was goalie for 34 minutes in the game recording one save. Ben Baughman was the keeper for the remaining 28 minutes, having two saves and giving up the two Highland goals.
Both Owen Horak and Mohammed Alghofili had two assists in the game and Anthony Torres and Suchan each had one.
The seniors on the team were recognized before the game where Anderson, Horak, Dillon along with foreign exchange student Alghofili were honored.
Coach Sally Hart said of the team?s effort, ?On senior night it's always nice to get a win, tonight it was great to see all of our seniors and Mohammed, our foreign exchange student, either tally a goal or an assist.
?They'll all leave big shoes to fill next season, but right now we're looking forward to and setting our sights on our final regular season game Thursday, May 18, against Fairfield and our post season match against Mid-Prairie Monday, May 22.
Thursday?s game starts at 4:30 p.m. and Monday?s contest begins at 5 p.m. Both games will be played in Washington.
