Although Washington Demon softball came up two wins short of a state tournament berth this season, the Demons still put together a fantastic 2024 summer campaign.
As a team, the Demons put up one of their best winning percentages ever and had more than a handful of individuals break inside the top 10 of their single season records.
The Demons finished the season with an overall record of 24-12. That’s good enough to mark the 4th best winning percentage in program history, behind the 2012 squad that went 32-10, 2013 that finished 30-13 and 2010 that closed 27-10.
As for the individual record, sophomore Leighton Salazar is the new stolen base record holder. Salazar finished the season with 36 stolen bases. In her early career, Salazar has quite the resume. She now holds school records for stolen bases, batting average, runs scored, and hits in a single season. She’s top 10 for on base percentage, slugging percentage, triples, and quality at-bat percentage (QAB).
Junior Bella Salazar surpassed the 100 strikeout mark. That places Salazar 6th all-time in single season strikeouts. She also posted top 10 in RBIs (37-8th) and sacrifices (7-T10th).
Alyvia Anderson, also a junior, posts top 10 marks in RBIs, home runs, fielding percentage and QAB. Anderson had 43 RBIs which ranks 6th all time. Her three home runs are tied for 5th. With a fielding percentage of .984, she ranks 8th. Her QAB of 67% is tied for 8th.
Fellow junior Lauren Hinrichsen joins the top 10 list in walks, tallying 26 which is 5th in the all time rankings. She’s also second in hit by pitches at 14.
Senior Emery Walton is sixth in HBP with six, tied for 8th.
Junior Halle Cuddeback gets into the top 10 in sacrifices, tying for 10th with seven.
Finally, junior Ella Greiner’s on base percentage of .564 ranks 8th all time. Her QAB of 74% is tied for 5th.
