Washington softball drops pair
Demons fall in back-to-back home games against Knoxville

WASHINGTON — It was a short turnaround for the Washington softball team on Tuesday night. One day after downing Durant, the Demons dropped a pair to Knoxville, falling 4-1 in Game 1 and 16-3 in Game 2.
The Demon offense struggled early in Game 1. Knoxville scored the first four runs, plating one in the first, one in the third and two in the fourth. The lone Washington run came in the seventh.
Kellie Dallmeyer went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles in Game 1. Ava Turner was 2-for-4 with a couple of singles and Washington’s only run scored.
Cara Linnenkamp was in the pitcher’s circle for Washington in Game 1. She gave up four runs (three earned) on 10 hits, one walk and one hit batter, while striking out five.
Washington got off to a hot start in Game 2, scoring a run in the first and two in the second. Knoxville took the lead with four in the third and added two in the fourth, six in the sixth and four in the seventh.
Dallmeyer went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs in the second game. Cameron Malichky knocked in the other Demon run.
Isabel Salazer threw five innings in Game 2, giving up six runs (five earned) on five hits, three walks and two hit batters. Linnenkamp and Emmy Wenger each threw one inning. Linnenkamp gave up four earned runs and Wenger gave up six runs (four earned).
