Washington softball team wins 1 of 2 in Oskaloosa tournament
The Washington softball team came away with one win out of two games played in a tournament at Oskaloosa Saturday, June 17.
The girls faced Wayne in the first game which ended in a 9-1 win for the Demons.
The girls lost the second game 3-8 to Albia.
Washington started off the day by putting up four runs in the first inning over Wayne to get an early lead.

The Washington softball team came away with one win out of two games played in a tournament at Oskaloosa Saturday, June 17.
The girls faced Wayne in the first game which ended in a 9-1 win for the Demons.
The girls lost the second game 3-8 to Albia.
Washington started off the day by putting up four runs in the first inning over Wayne to get an early lead.
They added two more runs in the second to go up 6-0. The final three runs were scored in the fourth inning.
Wayne attempted a comeback, but fell short as they scored their only run in the seventh inning, giving Washington the win.
Morgan Brinning led the team in scoring as she crossed the plate three times.
Megan Mitchell scored two runs in the game while having one run each were Jessie Buchholz, Kaitlyn Mitchell, Haylee Wilson and Hannah Anderson.
Molly Sparks got the win as she gave up the one run on five hits while walking two and striking out seven.
Albia scored a run in the first inning of the second game of the day to take an early lead.
Washington tied it in the fourth inning, but Albia would add another run in the bottom of the fourth to regain the lead.
Albia added two more runs in the fifth, to put the score at 1-4.
The Demons tried to come back in the sixth, but would only get one runner across the plate before Albia had a four-run sixth inning, adding to their lead.
Washington scored their final run in the seventh, but it was too late as Albia would get the victory.
Megan Mitchell scored two runs for Washington while Sparks was the other player to come home in the game.
Alexa Mitchell took the loss for the Demons as she gave up the eight runs on 12 hits while striking out one.
The girls take to the field in Fairfield tonight, Monday, starting at 5:30 p.m. for doubleheader action, with a 14-11 record.
